TABULATIONS: HIERARCHICAL DATA

MRDC has considerable experience in handling studies with hierarchical data. This means two or more “levels” of data from the survey – possibly doctors/patients, households/family members, respondents/days of a diary, respondents/eating out occasions etc. This type of data is sometimes known as data with one-to-many relationships.

Whilst some programs handle this type of data inefficiently, we have all the skills and software needed to process this type of data effectively.

This is because;

• MRDCL , our tabulation software, has special tools to handle this type of data

• Our staff fully understand the complexities and pitfalls of processing this type of data

• We can accumulate data across all records to produce aggregate data

• We can produce data across data levels (e.g. price of meal by number of meals eaten out)

• We can provide data in Reflect for secondary analysis , so that you can analyse data within levels
